Ghana

World Education first worked in Ghana between 1974-1980, implementing a training program to educate local workers about issues connected to health, education, and civic life. We returned in 2001, through the Strengthening HIV/AIDS Partnerships in Education (SHAPE) project. The project designed, delivered, and monitored HIV prevention education programs in schools, work that has continued with the Focus Region Health Project. World Education’s work in Ghana has since expanded to address issues in the cocoa-growing communities, including illiteracy and education gaps, and increasing access to family, health and agricultural extension services.

In recent years, World Education Ghana has been a frontrunner in the development and use of innovative mobile technology to address the needs of both people living with HIV and cocoa farmers. For both those affected by HIV and those in the cocoa-growing communities, World Education has changed the way mobile technology can be used and has made a last impacting in Ghana.
