English Language Instruction and Immigrant Inclusion

Building the capacity of programs that serve English learners

The United States is a nation of immigrants whose contributions to and inclusion into society are the foundation of our progress to date, and critical to our ability to thrive in the future. With an estimated one-in-five U.S. workers being an immigrant by 2030, and an increase in the number of people who speak English ‘less than well,’ programs that teach English language and other foundational skills such as digital literacy are crucial to immigrant inclusion, as well as immigration reform.

With the goals of equity and high-quality services, we work with state systems, education providers, immigrant service and advocacy organizations, refugee resettlement agencies, and employers to help immigrants and refugees gain the skills and knowledge to thrive.

Our professional development activities (workshops, webinars, technical assistance) and resources (websites, publications) prepare adults to use their developing English language and digital skills to navigate systems, succeed at work, and speak up for themselves and their communities. We also conduct workplace needs assessments for employers and design and deliver workplace-education programs based on these assessments.
