Digital Navigator Training Now Available!

World Education and Goodwill Industries International are excited to announce the launch of a self-paced 15-hour training program that provides participants with the skills, knowledge, and tools to effectively design and implement digital navigation services. This training, developed with support from AT&T, was built from the skills and interventions outlined in the Digital US Digital Navigator Playbook and introduces learners to Goodwill® career navigation principles. The program authors developed and implemented digital navigation services for a community college system and several local community based organizations, and the content and examples are drawn from these experiences. 

Throughout the program, participants will engage with examples of effective digital navigation and resources available across the United States. Participants are guided through a data collection process to identify the needs of the individuals they serve, determine services and programming to meet those needs within their own organization or greater community. The strategies presented can be flexibly implemented and adapted to a variety of organizations and communities.

The Goodwill® Digital Navigator Certificate Specialization is a program comprised of three courses and enables completers to: 

• Understand the digital divide and introduce digital navigation as an intervention.
• Learn more about the types of interventions digital navigators can provide including best practices in customer service, cultural competency, and service plan development.
• Identify strategies and partnerships within their local communities and put together an individualized asset map of resources.

The program is available on Coursera at no cost, for those who enroll as auditors. Paid participation ($49/month subscription) enables a participant to earn a certificate at the end of each of the three courses, and upon completion of all the requirements and knowledge checks, obtain the Goodwill® Digital Navigator Certificate. This allows participants to participate in the components of the course most relevant to them, or obtain the full certification. Paid participation unlocks all quizzes and the capstone exercise which culminates in the development of a completed asset map and plan for implementing digital navigator services.
