World Education Laos has received a significant donation to purchase rice for people with disabilities as COVID-19 continues to affect the nation. The 34,000,000 Kip donation from Delivery Hero Laos Co., Ltd., or Foodpanda, will support households of people with disabilities in Savannakhet and Xieng Khouang Provinces. The donation made headlines in The Laotian Times, as “Foodpanda Helps Purchase Rice for Persons with Disabilities.”

World Education works to strengthen the disability sector in Lao PDR and improve services to help people with disabilities lead more productive and fulfilling lives. World Education will distribute rice to families via local suppliers once every two weeks for six months. Approximately 25 households will receive food aid during the first six months, with more families receiving aid in a second phase.

For more than 20 years, World Education has worked to support the people of Lao PDR. In addition to strengthening systems for groups that work with people with disabilities, projects have ranged from improving services for the victims of unexploded ordnance to building a Women’s Entrepreneurship Center.
