Adult Skills Network Lead

World Education, in partnership with American Institutes for Research, Jobs For the Future and Abt Associates, will provide leadership in The Building Adult Skills and Attainment Through Technology Research Network (Adult Skills Network), an IES-funded research initiative launched in September 2021.

The Adult Skills Network will help address the learning needs of millions of U.S. adults by fostering deeper understanding about use of and building educational technologies to support teaching and learning. In particular, the Adult Skills Network research teams will facilitate the development, evaluation, and adoption of technology-supported interventions. The research will highlight and address the digital skills and competencies adults and practitioners need to benefit fully from technologies that aim to improve the basic skills or academic attainment of adults. The Adult Skills Network includes coordinated efforts in two areas: (1) basic and applied research and (2) dissemination and leadership.

As Network Lead, World Education and its partners will fill three roles to help the Adult Skills Network meet its goal:

1. to coordinate and help facilitate the work of all grantees,
2. to provide national leadership in knowledge generation and translation, and
3. to guide large-scale dissemination of research-based resources to practitioners and other stakeholders in a form they can effectively use, with the ultimate goal of breaking down the research to practice divide.
