The two-year Mondelez-funded project builds community-run early childhood development centers, known as Centres d’Animation Communautaire pour l’Enfance (CACE); trains teachers on early childhood education approaches and pedagogy; and provides parental education for parents in the communities. The project works in 20 cocao producing communities in rural Cote d'Ivoire. World Education employs our proprietary Participatory Commuity Diagnostic (PCD) approach to understand issues project communities face as they pertain to early childhood education, and engages communities in designing project approaches to address them. The Project engages communities in all aspects of the construction of the Ministry of Women, Families and Children's CACE, including the building firm procurement process and construction monitoring. To ensure sustainability, the project trains interns from the Institut National de Formation Sociale to provide quality early childhood education and supervises them as they assume their role as early childhood educators in the CACE. Finally, the project equips the CACE with educational materials with support from the project communities.
