In Cote d’Ivoire, the Project of Access to Quality Education (Projet d’Accès à l’Education de Qualité – PAEQ) improved the quality education in the country’s cocoa growing regions. Through the project, World Education increased community involvement in schools and improved the quality of teaching within schools.
World Education partnered with the Ministry of Education, local cocoa cooperatives, and mothers’ associations to improve the literacy and numeracy learning of 1,912 first and second grade students in these communities. Through the facilitation of an intense training program, continuing professional development, mentoring and supervision, World Education built the capacity of teachers to meet the diverse needs of their students. The project also worked with Community School Management Committees and Mothers’ Associations to increase community engagement and facilitate sustainability within the project.
