Using education as a stimulus, World Education strives to facilitate positive, sustainable change in Cote d'Ivoire's cocoa growing regions. Working through Mondelez International’s Cocoa Life Initiative to empower communities, WEI supported education activities in cocoa farming communities including, functional literacy for women, kindergarten teacher training, and supporting communities to put in place and manage school canteens. Through a participatory community engagement process, communities identified poorly managed school feeding programs as an acute challenge to their children’s education. Responding to this need, WEI built the capacity of schools and communities to manage and monitor school canteens to ensure efficient and transparent school feeding programs.
