The purpose of the Massachusetts Professional Content Standards for Adult Mathematics and Numeracy is to provide a foundation for building the capacity of ABE and ESOL instructors and strengthening the quality of instruction in adult classrooms. Mathematics and numeracy are related but are not synonymous. Numeracy reflects the use of mathematics in daily life. This document was prepared by a committee led by World Education. June 2011.
