The National Case Management System in Zimbabwe: A Case Study

Careful listening, aligning to government-identified priorities, building on existing systems and strengths, and establishing trust… these exemplify critical shifts in reimagining development assistance, and are the pillars undergirding a longstanding, highly successful partnership among the Government of Zimbabwe, World Education Bantwana, and development donors.

This case study documents how World Education's Bantwana Initiative worked with, and supported, the Government of Zimbabwe and funders to design, pilot, and scale up the country’s child protection system through a combination of innovations as well as time-tested interventions, processes, and structures—and by building in sustainability from the outset.

As a result, Zimbabwe’s National Case Management System has now been in operation for more than a decade, weathering multiple political and economic challenges and continuing to meet the needs of thousands of vulnerable children and families each year.
