In early 2015 World Education/Cambodia launched a new phase in its Youth on the Move project. Working in Prey Veng province, an area of Cambodia where the high rate of school drop-out is due in part to youth leaving school to migrate, Youth on the Move is working to revitalize Student Councils and clubs. In addition to empowering students with new leadership opportunities, it is hoped that this initiative will help counteract the perceived irrelevance of secondary education that is common among many rural Cambodians. Student participants will receive training on many aspects of leadership and project management, and many will serve as peer educators, helping to spread information about safe migration, entrepreneurship, and other core aspects of the Youth on the Move program.
