Literacy is the foundation of all learning, and it is a human right. Each year on September 8th, the world commemorates International Literacy Day to ensure we are making progress towards a future where everyone can read and write, and use those building blocks for lifelong learning.
Right now, at least 771 million people lack basic literacy skills. Nearly 24 million students – 11 million of which are girls and young women – might never return to school. Supporting these individuals to continue learning requires integrated, sustainable solutions.
